Date: Mon, 6 Aug 2001 10:24:28 +0100 Message-ID: <000901c11e59$984b0320$47357ad5@hayholt> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook, Build 10.0.2627 X-MIMEOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2462.0000 Importance: Normal Sender: linux-kernel-owner@vger.kernel.org X-Mailing-List: linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org I consistently get an oops when compiling Linux 2.4.7 for SMP on a MSI 694D motherboard, PIII 866 cpus, 256MB ram. I suspect that it has something to do with multiple video devices, but am not certain. Perhaps someone can look at the oops. The oops happens as the other CPU is loading the serial port & NTFS drivers. I have basically removed everything from the config that is not critical. The install is a slackware 8.0, and the slackware provided 2.4.5 kernel (not SMP) boots fine. From looking at the oops it appears to be in vga_con_cursor. *pde = 00000000 CPU: 1 EIP: 0010:[<00000018>] EFLAGS: 00010246 EAX: 00000000 EBX: c01051d0 ECX: c1458000 EDX: c1458000 ESI: c1458000 EDI: c01051d0 EBP: 00000000 ESP: c1459fb0 Ds: 0018 Es: 0018 Ss: 0018 Process swapper( pid:0, stackpage c1459000 ) Stack: [][<00000002>][<00000000>][<00000000>][][] [] [<00000000>][][<00000000>][<0000000d>][<00000000>][<00000000>] [<00000000>] [][][<00000001>][][<00000000>][<00000000>] Call Trace: [][][] Code:Bad EIP value.
