In kernel 2.4.x I could use hdparm -U before powering off the cage and hdparm -R after powering on the cage, and the new hdd was recongnized. With the new 2.6.x kernel, this does not work anymore. I have searched lkml for a while but I found only pointers for 2.4.x kernels. Is ide rescan supported in 2.6.x kernels and how to do it ? Thanks, Paul
