I have three identical disks in the box (all SATA) and have a RAID1 (3 disks) as root file system, which works flawlessly and I'm trying to set up a RAID5 over all three disks for some data. When the array is initialized (during creating or during boot), the machine locks up within 30-60 seconds. no SysRq key combinations work, and NMI watchdog interrupts are created any more. Is this a known problem, or am I messing something up? As I'm not sure that this is solely a RAID problem, I have sent it to linux-kernel as well. As I'm only subscribed to linux-raid, I'd be great if all responses to go there ;) Thanks in advance for your time, Victor System Information: 1.
