irq handling and APM on new Laptop Sony Vaio GRX 570

I apparently have a system with a bios that doesn't play well with linux.

Laptop - Sony Vaio GRX 570 i8x0
The only problems I'm having are with audio (ac97_codec), and the modem (hcf).

The sound is choppy.

And the modem just won't work (drivers installed). All modules load clean when 
I try to access the modems dev with minicom or ppp but it won't communicate. 
I'm just guessing because it doesn't get assigned an IRQ.

I've tried booting with the pci=biosirq parm with no luck. If anyone has any 
ideas what I can do, thanks.
