[1.] One line summary of the problem: System hang up with Speedtouch USB hotplug [2.] Full description of the problem/report: System hang up when I plug-out and then plug-in an Alcatel USB Speedtouch modem. I'm not using binary driver from Alcatel but the free user-mode implementation from http://speedtouch.sf.net. The whold system hang up as soon as I plug the modem. I was playing an MP3 with XMMS, the last second of sound plays in loop. Magic Sysrq didn't do anything. [3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel): USB hangup [4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version): 2.4.12-ac5 with preempt patch (and some patches from Netfilter's patch-o-matic) [5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) The system hang up, I wasn't able to see any oops [6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if possible) No shell script. Plug out the modem, and then plug it in. [7.] Environment [7.1.] Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here) If some fields are empty or look unusual you may have an old version. Compare to the current minimal requirements in Documentation/Changes. I think it comes from the USB module because the computer hangs as soon as I plugged the modem. -- ** Gael Le Mignot, Ing3 EPITA, Coder of The Kilobug Team ** Home Mail : kilobug@freesurf.fr Work Mail : le-mig_g@epita.fr GSM : 06.71.47.18.22 (in France) ICQ UIN : 7299959 Web : http://kilobug.freesurf.fr or http://drizzt.dyndns.org "Software is like sex it's better when it's free.", Linus Torvalds
