currently I'm not subscribed to the list so it would be nice if I could

<Scenario>
I'm using Kernel-2.4.19 and everytime I start X and switch on one of the
Keyboard LED's such as NUM_LOCK,CAPS_LOCK the mouse immedialtey freezes.
Sometimes even the whole system. I do not use GPM.

Additionally I found kernel messages of

"keyboard - timeout AT keyboard not present ? (ed)"
"keyboard - timeout AT keyboard not present ? (f4)"

in the logs.

What I have done what could be responsible for this behavior and what
I have done to isolate the problem to be 2.4.19/2.4.18 specific:

Of course I tried googling first, and also found an entry in the
kernel-mailing list archive with the same problem but this
was referring all to the 2.5 series. So I do not exactly know what
initially caused this behavior, but maybe it's the BIOS Upgrade
I've done latley. Nevertheless, a 2.4.8-ac7 running on the same machine 
is having no problems,
I have also run 2.4.16 which had also no problems. Basically I run a 
vanilla kernel
(2.4.16) with only the xfs patch applied to get support for SGI's xfs 
filesystem.

I have also found out, that I could influence the behavior when changing 
the values for

"Keyboard Auto Repeat Rate"
"Keyboard Auto Repeat Delay"

in the Bios I can change the Repeat Rate from 6/Second to 30/Second and 
the Delay Rate from
1 Second to 3/4 Second. I get the worst behavior when I change Auto 
Repeat Rate to 6/Second and
Auto Repeat Delay to 1 Second, then I get the keyboard timeout messages 
every few seconds, and it is not
even possible to switch on the the keyboard LED's.

It would be really nice if someone could help me on this issue, as I 
really tried  out all I could imagine and I'm
completley out of ideas. If there is a patch going to be released, it 
would be very good if I could apply it also against
2.4.19 as I depend on the XFS patch from SGI. Please find attached my 
kernel Configuration File.
