since I used Kernel 2.4.18 [in order to get an usb scanner going] ,
reading from my Sony CDU31a CD drive gets a Segmentation fault 
[see attachment syslog, near the end of it]
Mounting and dir reading is possible however.
System usually hangs after that.
Remedy:using kernel 2.2.17 or 2.2.20.

work-around: booting Kernel 2.2.17 or 2.2.20 [latest pre 2.4.18 Kernel]
Remark: modul options are: cdu31a_port=0x230 
  [no interrupts.They didnt work with old kernel neither.]
CDU31 is connected onto a Soundblaster.Used to have CDU31 connected to WDH7102
With that, interrupts could be set and it worked.Tried that with the new 2.4.18
Kernel:
same Segmentation  Fault.
