These emails and thread are related to why I'm not able to use the pmtimer when in 2.6.14.3 i was able, without any special boot args and without removing or selecting anything different from the new kernels. (2.6.16-rc1-mm2/-mm5). I'm not complaining so much that the tsc is out of sync, I opened the thread stating that i knew this was an already discussed problem, but that the kernel reports the tsc is out of sync and doesn't seem to be using the pm timer by default or falling back to it when it determines that the tsc it's using is not reliable. Attached below is the dmesg for my current kernel and config. Ignore the libata.atapi_enabled=1 boot argument. It apparently does nothing for pata atapi detection. (that's another thread) I also included my 2.6.14.3 config. Only real difference pm related is the newer addition of legacy pm support.
