Subject: [Question] Report at syzbot (ad6c1104e51702ef591b) - Intended Behaviour or Bug?
Date: Sun, 01 Nov 2026 20:02:25 -0800 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <DMKFCOLAMK3K.2N6KVW6P0RKDY@gmail.com> (raw)
Hello,
I was investigating bug report ad6c1104e51702ef591b on syzbot, and came
to the conclusion that it is intended behaviour. The repro.c file was
calling ioctl with the cmd as FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO with an invalid yres
(8) so the kernel was returning -EINVAL, from the function
fbcon_modechange_possible. I am wondering is this intended behaviour,
due to something happening on the user's end, or should it be something
be implemented as a fallback?
Thanks,
Saad Varshani
