This post is for everyone, and specially for Linus:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040514/234/71e7q.html
And the message disection:
http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20040517002423242
Probably Linus already read this, but I'm very interested in knowing his
opinion.
Regards,
Martin

Look at <http://www.groklaw.net>, there is a lot of discussion on this.
This in _not_ the place for such a discussion/post, BTW.

Its seems to be a good discussion topic for me.
I want to know how the Linux community reacts to this kind of marketing
over the net and how can the subscribers be affected.
I really want to know Linus's opinion about this.
Cheers,
Martin

Once somebody does something well, many will take credit.
Should somebody fail, the fault remains alone.

We are no sales person, so we don't react at all. If they want to sell
their products, let them do! If their customers decide they need
something different, they may want to have a look at Linux, the *BSDs
and all others...

more wetware cracking = more ignorant people being led around. someone should
issue a press release about carefully prepared press releases that do
something similar to stack smashing, but in brains.
i just wanna know, where are all the non-US companies that dislike linux? are
they all here in america? would that be a surprise?

Well...
After Linus saying that the real creators of Linux are "the Tooth Fairy and
Santa Claus" ( http://www.linuxworld.com/story/44851.htm ), Andy Tanenbaum
wrote Some Notes on the "Who wrote Linux" Kerfuffle
( http://www.cs.vu.nl/~ast/brown/ ) and today made a follow-up
(http://www.cs.vu.nl/~ast/brown/followup/ ) telling what were the motivations
of Ken Brown, President of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution.
Interesting readings...
Anyway, I think this is kind of an off-topic theme for this Mailing List.

non-US companies... US companies...
Is the country so relevant?
Simply there are a very few non US company that have reasons to
be against Linux. Most of them simply are non concerned by it, some of
them are using it...
In US there are more company for whom Linux could be something to worry
about... But is not something related to the country...

I sent a brief message immediately after that one, about this not being
slashdot. That was the very instant those router troubles stopped my traffic
to/from vger.kernel.org. Maybe it'll arrive here tomorrow.
I'll say I only mention it because it seems a bunch of (only?) US Co.'s have
this big bad attitude toward your effort, and it just sort of upsets me. no
biggie. and no more slashdot from me.
