[PATCH v5 0/2] usb: serial: add support for CH348

Hello

The CH348 is an octo serial to USB adapter.
The following patch adds a driver for supporting it.
Since there is no public datasheet, unfortunatly it remains some magic values.

It was tested with a large range of baud from 1200 to 1500000 and used with
success in one of our kernel CI testlab.

Regards

Changes since v1:
- use a data structure for encoding/decoding messages.
- check if needed endpoints exists
- fix URB leak in ch348_allocate_status_read error case
- test for maximum baud rate as stated by datasheet

The device multiplexes all 8 ports in the same pair of Bulk endpoints.
Since there is no public datasheet, unfortunately it remains some magic values

You need to implement disconnect() as well if you are to manage the
status URB like this as stopping when the last tty reference is closed
is too late.

But should instead handle the status urb like mxuport does, but using
port1 for status events and starting it at attach or when the first port
is opened.

You cannot use devres here (or in general for drivers exposing a
chardev), these structures may need to stay around after the device has
been disconnected as user space can still hold a reference to the tty.

You'd currently trigger a use-after-free in release() above when trying
to access the driver data which would already have been freed in case
user space holds the tty open longer.

Also allocations should be done in an attach() callback which matches
release() (so this function should be converted to an attach()
callback).

FYI, __func__ and __LINE__ are included automatically in dev_dbg() calls
so any addition in the string for them is redundant and should never be
there (it's also a hint that no one used this debug statement as the
redundancy would be kind of obvious...)

Not exactly automatically since you need to explicitly request that they
are included, but yes, they are redundant.

__func__ may sometimes be useful for compact debug messages, though. As
an example, "get_chars - 5" is self-contained, while simply printing "5"
doesn't make any sense unless you also enable function prefixes.
