Subject: [PATCH RFC v2 03/50] mm: shmem: Implement guest_memfd provider operations for tmpfs
Date: Thu, 22 Oct 2026 16:27:35 -0700 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <20261022-gmem-alternative-providers-v2-3-5dd1dc6c660a@google.com> (raw)
In-Reply-To: <20261022-gmem-alternative-providers-v2-0-5dd1dc6c660a@google.com>
From: Ackerley Tng <ackerleytng@google.com>
Implement guest_memfd provider operations to declare that tmpfs supports
providing memory to guest_memfd.
I put guest_memfd_provider_operations as a pointer in struct
file_operations. Being in file_operations generalizes well to other kinds
of providers, like devices, which don't have their own super_operations.
Setting it in shmem_dir_operations allows directory file descriptors
opened on a tmpfs mount to provide memory to guest_memfd.
