[See below, but it looks to me as though debian is running /sbin/discover at
about the point in boot sequence where the module gets loaded (this is also
confirmed by the log I created by wrapping modprobe with a shell script to
write its parameters out :-.

Due to a disaster on a debian kernel update - I am temporarily back to the
2.4.18-K7 kernel - (the "old" configuration in lilo.conf) but its still the

The crux lines seem to be (there is no reference to ide-scsi in the log per
seem, but this is my IDE device). Judging by its position in the log it
