* Omit an extra message for a memory allocation failure in this function.
This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.
* Add a jump target so that the function "kfree" will be always called
with a non-null pointer.

Replace the specification of data structures by variable references
as the parameter for the operator "sizeof" to make the corresponding size
determination a bit safer according to the Linux coding style convention.
