As an update to my own message..
This card comes with a 2k dos com file which sets the dma/int/irq for sb16
compatibility. I dont think it's a TSR.
I dont have a copy of dos around here and I can't mount my freedos image
to put the file there (dont have msdos kernel module.. :) )... I'm
reasonable sure I can just disassemble this executable and find the ports
it plays with.. :)
It should then work (though without the fancy features).

Not that I know of.

The DMA stuff should work. The way the transparent ISA DMA emulation works
is horribly sick but OS independant. PCI bridges output all bus cycles
to the PCI bus first. Unclaimed ones go to the ISA bus. This means a PCI
card can watch ISA DMA being programmed and work out what the user was
trying to do. It then issues its own PCI DMA operations for the same
addresses.

Booting through dos works for me. Just load the dos drivers and loadlin
and insmod normal soundblaster drivers and you are ok.

Thanks!
Have you looked into getting specs for the native mode?
The dos trick is nice, but it wont work for me in the long run, as
ultmatly I want to use these cards in systems that boot off
disk-on-a-chip. :)
