That's what ScrollLock and Shift-PageUP are for (;

dmesg is also useless if the kernel crashes before you've booted up
completely.

I guess this won't be too bad as long as you have the option to boot up the
traditional way. I definitely prefer knowing what's going on to looking at
progress bars.
