Hi,
I am using a P200 MMX as an Fileserver. After i upgraded it to an 100
Mbit/s NIC (tulip chip and 3Com "Vortex" tried) i am getting the follwing
behaviour: The network stack seems to "block" when sending files to the
machine with full 100 Mbit/s. There are -no- kernel messages. Doing a ping
an the machine gives all ping packets back in "one bunch". Even after
stopping accesing the machine at full speed (stopping the transfer) i am
just getting this "packaged" ping reply (9000 ms and more).
A ping -f -s 65000 will also lock up the machine. Doing an ifdown -a ;
ifup -a resloves the problem until the next "flood".
Regards

Have you verified that the duplex settings are correct? I've had
problems on more than one occasion with mismatched duplex on 100Mbit
cards (and switches).

Know the problem. It's running full duplex, but there is an other server
an the same switch with the same network card making none of these
problems. Anyway. I've put a 10 Mbit board into it now and moved the big
harddisk to another PC.

If you feel like messing with it anymore, the only thing I can suggest
is that you try the newer tulip driver from sourceforge. I recally
you mentioning a tulip driver in your original post.
I've had the newer tulip driver solve odd problems that the current
driver had. YMMV, of course.
